Roll out the shortcrust pastry and cut it into rectangles the size of the ham slices.
Place a slice of ham and a slice of cheese on each piece of pastry and roll them up.
Place in an ovenproof dish or on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
Brush the surface with beaten egg and sprinkle with grated parmesan and pepper.
Bake at 200°C for about 15–20 minutes, until the surface is golden brown and crispy.
